DJ Journeyman and MC Shureshock
Expect a journey through the sounds of Drum and bass selected by the DJ Journeyman
specifically for the tribe all laced by MC Shureshock guiding you through the journey on
the mic .
After successful recent performances at Initiation festival and local brisbane nights such as
Planet of the breaks the duo present their sound to you.
JOURNEYMAN-
Being the first DJ to introduce ambient electronica to Brisbane Journeyman’s (aka J’man)
debut performance was at the Dome club in 1994. He went on to play all the major raves
and parties for over a decade putting out a diverse range of rich soundscapes from trance
(one of the early pioneers of goa trance scene Sth qld) to techno and drum n bass with a
residency at club lush in 1996. In 2002 J’ man regularly opened for the DnB social club
which was a fortnightly gig venue in West End. In 2003 he was resident at the Moonbar
Fortitude Valley playing breaks, 2 step garage and DnB, following on from a collaboration
in Sydney hooking up with the momentum crew he ran his own DnB club night event called
Uptempo. J’man featured on a live 2-hour JJJ mixup set teaming with Australia’s foremost
dnb dj/producer – Greg Packer. Journeyman has been warm up for some of the most
prolific DJ Legends such as Goldie,Groovrider and Ltj Bukem among others and has been
a regular performer at Brisbane dnb parties with his longtime collaborator and friend MC
Shureshock. Jman returned to the scene 4 years ago from a lengthy break and his second
gig was Elements festival 2019, since then he has regularly played at all dnb events at
Sub Rosa including the last 4 Elements festivals, Initiation festival, Soul on Fire and
Subtropics Festival.& Wizards of Kingston campouts and Planet of the Breaks.
MC SHURESHOCK –
MC Shureshock’s career spans nearly 30 years in the world of dance music and hip hop.
From early days as MC N03 (90’s) in Brisbane with the local Rave cohort before drum and bass
emerged he cut his teeth to UK Breakbeat Hardcore, trance, hip hop and Gabba and rose to be
Brisbane’s premier MC hosting the raves along side visiting international legends from Carl Cox to
Fat Boy Slim and Scott Brown to name a few and local legends from Jen E , Thief and school mate
Jethro where his craft began.
Late 90’s saw the MC Shureshock Monica arise as he teamed up with local breakbeat legends at
THE MOON BAR as he teamed with Funk Trip Hop Band Zephyr Timbre rising to national notoriety
supporting Jamerioquoi , Michael Franti and Moby to name a few with singles topping the charts.
Meeting Kid Kenobi in 1999 the duo collaborated on half a dozen chart topping Ministry of Sound
Clubbers Guide to breaks CD’s as Kid was crowned Aust number 1# 3 times and they toured the
country and world intently for over a decade , the duo still collaborate today over 20 years later.
Shureshocks love of DnB saw his talents get him booked solo with names like Goldie , Andy C,
Hype and Greg Packer and he still works closely in the genre today releasing on Local Brizzy
Legend Tomix’s new EP in 2021.
In 2010’s Bass music was back and He started a label “dub Rave” to herald the dubstep sound
and topped the charts through Licencing to Ministry again and smashing shows under the Dub
Rave Banner.
Lately he’s attentions align with the outdoor scene hosting / preforming at yearly parties such as
Elements and Rabbits eat lettuce and rolling with longtime partner of over 20 years in DnB
Journeyman. A new outfit with Kenny Beeper and DJ Snuze “Tha Fun Police” a Lazer funk hip hop
act that topped the charts in breaks and hip hop in 2020 have a new ep releasing soon.
Living by the ethos “music first” on stage and in recording, expect nothing less but the class you’d
expect with this length of dedication to the art of the M.I.C.
