GENERAL FAQ  –  CAMPING FAQ  –  TICKET FAQ  –  VOLUNTEER FAQ

Take it easy, this is Straya! It’s kind of an Aussie thing to take pride in how extreme our home is. But sometimes you have to be real about it. Plan for any possible weather conditions with clothing and camping supplies that’ll keep your rig sorted for the duration of the event.

Mixing hot days with running around, dancing, boozing, and perhaps not eating and sleeping as well as you should is a recipe for disaster. This kind of behaviour is easy to slip into, but it increases your chances of getting dehydration, heatstroke, or injuring yourself through some poorly thought-out prank.

Drink water. Take rests. Get some sleep. Be mindful of how you’re feeling. And be aware of others. If you don’t feel comfortable approaching someone who looks like they could use water or some other form of assistance, please don’t hesitate to alert a medic, security guard, or any staff or crew you see with an Elements Hi-Vis vest. Small acts of kindness like this can make a world of difference.

General FAQ

Festival Entry

If you like saving time and money, we recommend pre-purchasing your ticket. Gate prices are always higher (if they’re available), and it takes a bit longer to buy a ticket. To save yourself even more time, have your purchased ticket ready so we can scan it, give you a wristie and send you on your way. Everyone who enters the site will be issued with an Elements Festival 2024 wristband. It is a condition of entry that your wristie remain on at all times during the festival.

Gates Open | Close

The gates to your Elements adventure swing open from 10am Thursday the 25th of January for 4 Day Ticket holders, from 8am on Friday the 26th of January for 3 Day Ticket Holders and 8am Saturday the 27th of January for 2 Day Ticket Holders. Gates close at midnight each night. Anyone arriving before or after this time will be asked to wait outside, so plan your trip accordingly.

Our mini-world winds down on Sunday night, with the final notes of music settling into the earth at midnight. The markets will be open, allowing you to stock up on rations and replenish your body before having a good night’s sleep. In the interests of your safety, we encourage you to stay with us Sunday night and drive home when you’re nicely rested on Monday morning. You have until 2pm Monday afternoon to get on the road.

Essentials | Things to Bring

Anyone who’s ever been to a festival has made at least one embarrassing mistake. Maybe you forgot to peg your tent down and had to chase it through the campgrounds, fighting the wind to get it back. Perhaps you overestimated how tough your feet were, leaving you with nasty blisters (nothing gaffer tape couldn’t fix, of course). Or maybe you figured “Queensland’s not that cold” only to end up shivering like a startled burrito in a foil blanket from the med tent because, as it turns out, Queensland can get pretty frosty at night!

Thankfully, these and other tragic misadventures can be easily avoided if you arm yourself with the right information. And you’re in luck because the right information is right here. Read on for a detailed guide covering everything you need to bring to Elements Festival 2024.

  •     Esky (ice is available for purchase on-site)
  •     Reusable water bottle (fill up from the free water stations throughout the site)
  •     Plenty of drinking water to keep at camp (in a reusable bulk water container)
  •     Sun protection – hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrella
  •     Clothes for all conditions – hot, cold, and wet
  •     Shoes for all conditions
  •     Rubbish bags for your camp and butt bins if you’re a smoker
  •     Camping gear – tent (make sure you have all the pegs and poles), tarps, and ropes
  •     Bedding – mattress, pillow, sleeping bag
  •     Torch / headlamp
  •     Earplugs for when you need some sleep
  •     Bathers + Towel
  •     Insect repellent

Keep in mind, we are a leave-no-trace festival. So, whatever you bring has to go home with you too.

Things to Leave at Home

The following items are non-compatible with the algorithms of the Elements world:

  •     Pets
  •     Glass
  •     Fires
  •     Weapons of any kind
  •     Fireworks
  •     Generators
  •     Powered speakers
  •     Dj Gear
  •     Motorbikes, quad bikes
  •     Drugs (or excessive amounts of alcohol)
  •     Anti-social behaviour
Trespassing

Entering the site outside of the Gate Open | Close times and without a wristband is trespassing. More to the point, it’s stealing from people who have invested their time, money, energy and sanity into bringing you an immersive experience of creative awesomeness. Paying for entry is your way of respecting the dedication of the crew and the talent of the artists involved in the festival. If you’re not rocking your official Elements Festival 2024 wristie, we’ll give you two options: buy a full-price ticket (in which case you get to tell your mates you got a wristie from a security guard) or have your personal details recorded and an unceremonious ejection from the event (not such a great story).

What services and amenities can I expect?

Elements Festival takes you out of the city and into the beauty of nature, but that doesn’t mean you have to rough it. We have plenty of services and amenities on offer to keep you happy and comfortable throughout the event. You can look forward to hot showers and flushing toilets, free water refill stations, and ice on sale all throughout the festival. We provide ATMs and POS systems in the marketplace, and you can even pick up a wifi package if you need one! We don’t sell alcohol (you can BYO) but you will find an abundance of food and bev options in our marketplace, alongside fashion, art, homewares, and a host of other beautiful items.

On the health and safety front, we have experienced security and medic teams backed up by our harm reduction crew. If you ever have any questions or could use a hand, you can talk to any of these crew members or head to the Info Tent, where you’ll find friendly Elements staff ready to help you out. Finally, Blow Me First will be on-site throughout the festival to ensure you’re safe to drive when you’re ready to head off.

If you want to learn more about any of these services, visit the Services & Amenities page on the Elements Festival website.

Is the festival site wheelchair accessible?

For the most part, yes. We work hard to ensure most areas of the Elements Festival landscape are wheelchair accessible. Elements also features All Access Toilets and a dedicated Accessibility Camping Area where you can park your vehicle with your tent. This camping area is close to all entertainment areas and market vendors.

However, it’s important to take the climate and natural environment into account. The festival takes place in bushland, so some paths may be a bit uneven, some areas of the festival might be more difficult to access, and you may also be impacted by the weather. Please take these factors into account when deciding whether to attend.

If you’re a carer with a valid Companion Card who will be accompanying someone with accessibility needs on-site, you’re entitled to free entry to Elements Festival 2024. To apply for a Companion Card holder ticket and Accessibility Camping access, please email tickets@elementsfestival.com.au with your details.

You can find more info about accessibility here: ACCESSIBILITY

Camping FAQ

When you enter general camping, you will find a certain amount of infrastructure and guidance. However, we’re not a police state – we’d rather trust that you’re a logical, intelligent human capable of setting up a dope camping area and being considerate of others.

While we do leave it entirely up to you to construct a festival home that reflects your unique style, we have created a handy Essential | Things To Bring guide to help you ensure you’ve got all your essentials covered.

One thing you must factor into your planning is that your basic Elements Festival ticket includes access to the General Campgrounds from either Thursday or Friday to Monday for you, the Ticket Holder. Unless you’ve upgraded your access with a Vehicle Pass, you cannot take a vehicle on-site.

Is camping free?

Yes. Every ticket to Elements Festival 2024 includes the opportunity to camp in the General Campgrounds for the duration of the festival. A 4-day Elements Festival ticket includes camping from Thursday the 25th of January 2024, while a 3-day ticket will allow you to arrive on Friday the 26th of January, and a 2-day ticket from Saturday the 27th of January. All campsites must be clear of the venue by 2pm Monday the 29th of January.

I don’t own camping gear, can I rent a tent?

Of course! We love making life easier for you, so we are keeping up our tradition of offering a variety of Camping Upgrade options.

Is there a restriction on tent sizes?

Great question! And the answer is yes. We have a cap on festival numbers to ensure our tribe is comfortable, and this extends to tent sizes. We agree that tent mansions are cool, but it’s far too easy for campsites to get out of control, and we wouldn’t want this to negatively impact other Elementals. So, to keep things fair, we have a policy in place requiring sensible-sized family tents only. Please do not bring an 8 or 10-berth mega-tent. If you crave space and hate tiny tents, then you should take a gander at our VIP Camping options.

Can I camp with my car?

Provided you have purchased a Vehicle Pass, yes, you can camp in the General Campgrounds with or in your car.

If you have purchased a Camping Upgrade such as Glamping or Scout Tent, a car park close to this area is provided. However, bringing your vehicle into the Glamping area is not possible / strictly restricted.

Can Camper Vans and tents camp together?

Yes. Go for gold.

Are there any powered sites for RVs?

Yes. If you’d like power to your RV or Campsite you will need to purchase a VIP Powered Camping Plot. Elementals with RVs will be able to camp in style at our fully powered and conveniently located area.

Can we have pets on-site?

No pets are allowed on site, no matter how cute or well-behaved they may be. This policy is non-negotiable and is in place for the safety of our tribe and the local wildlife. Your dog, goat, or chicken may be cool, but we can’t pick and choose when it comes to people’s beloved pets.

Can we have fires in the campsites?

That’s a hard no. And the reasons should be obvious.

Can I drive offsite mid-festival?

No. We do NOT provide Passouts. We have a no-re-entry policy for all vehicles. This is non-negotiable as it’s in place to ensure safety, successful traffic management, and control of our car park capacity. This is also one of many ways we’re able to keep our vehicle passes at such a low cost.

Do you have family and or quiet campgrounds?

Yes. If you need a good, solid night’s sleep without being mentally jostled by the endless beats and frivolity of the festival site, we feel you. Check the festival site map once it’s released, generally 2 weeks prior to the festival commencement.

Do I need to book for the Family or Quiet Campsites?

Nope. Just turn up and settle in. Just keep in mind that these areas are first come, first served.

Tickets FAQ

Do you have a question regarding tickets? Your best bet for a quick answer is to read through our most commonly asked ticketing questions. Nine times out of ten, the info below will resolve the issue.

When do tickets go on sale?

A limited allocation of Super Early Bird Supporter tickets will be available for purchase on-site during Elements Festival 2024 and online for those who may have missed the January festival. Join Elements Newsletter and Follow Elements Festival on your preferred social media platforms so you can jump on the opportunity when these heavily discounted tickets go on sale.

Will tickets be available at the gate?

Elements Festival is strictly capped at 5,000 people. This includes our staff, volunteers, artists and performers. A limited allocation of gate-priced tickets will be available for the festival. However, given the history of our previous events, we have experienced several sell-out events. With this in mind, your best bet is to purchase your tickets early to save money and avoid disappointment.

What is included in my festival ticket purchase?

Your Festival ticket includes access to the General Campgrounds and the use of all amenities, including flushing toilets and hot showers.

  • A 4-day ticket will grant you access to the Festival and General Camping grounds for the duration of the event. That is, 10am Thursday the 25th of January through to 2pm Monday 29th of January.

Your festival ticket does NOT include a Vehicle Pass, Shuttle Bus, and or any Camping Upgrades. These can all be purchased separately.

Do you sell single-day tickets?

As a general rule, we do not sell single-day passes in the lead-up to the festival. However, we do offer 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day tickets. Your days of admission will be stipulated on your ticket. Please note that if we have the capacity, we may offer single-day tickets on Sunday the 28th of January. However, this is not a guarantee, and this is the ONLY day any single-day tickets may be sold.

Yes. Online tickets include a standard booking fee to cover online transaction fees and handling. This fee will be added on as you check out.

Do I need to purchase a Vehicle Pass?

Yes. After Pay and Zip Pay Payment Plan options are available for all Elements Festival 2024 tickets.

Volunteer FAQ

Volunteer applications open on Monday 18th September 2023. The application portal will remain open until all positions have been filled, so if you see it on the Elements website, you’re still in with a chance. The application process is super straightforward with no tricky questions – just let us know a little about yourself and your preferences, and you’ll be good to go.

How do I apply to volunteer at Elements Festival 2024?

The application process is super straightforward with no tricky questions – just let us know a little about yourself and your preferences, and you’ll be good to go. Visit the application portal on the Elements website to apply.

What volunteer roles can I apply for?

We include a full list of the available roles in our application portal, including all the details you need to figure out if you’re a good fit. If you’re successful, we’ll give you a detailed position description when we confirm your position.

How many hours do I have to work if I volunteer?

We understand that you want to enjoy as much of the festival as you can, so we offer a very good deal to our volunteers. As an Event Volunteer, you need to complete 2 x 4.5-hour shifts in exchange for your ticket. Note that this includes camping and access to the festival.

If you sign up as a Set-up and Pack-down Volunteer, you get the unique benefit of having your time entirely free during the festival. For this reason, we ask you to share a bit more of your time. We’re looking for people who are genuinely excited about building an amazing festival, and we ask that you commit to a minimum of 5 x 8-hour shifts.

If your application is successful, we will come to a final agreement with you on these terms at the time of confirmation.

Can my friends and I volunteer and work together?

If you’d like to work together, make sure you all apply using a common group name so it’s easy for our team to identify you! We will then do our best to schedule you together so you can keep each other company on your shifts. Please note, though, that we can’t 100% guarantee that you’ll be able to work together. Festivals involve a lot of moving parts, so we ask that you be flexible in case it just isn’t possible to roster you together.

Do I need to buy a ticket if I’m volunteering?

Yes and no. We have a professional volunteering company handling everything as this is the best way to ensure both you and the festival receive fair treatment. To secure your position as a volunteer, you’ll use a payment gateway (Stripe) to provide a non-refundable $100 administrative fee along with your payment details.

In the unlikely event that you break the terms & conditions of the event, fail to complete your shifts, or otherwise violate your Volunteer Agreement, you will be charged the full price of an event ticket.

If I can no longer volunteer, can I get a refund of the $100 Volunteer administration fee?

No. By accepting your position and paying the administrative fee, you commit to your role and enter the volunteer system. As the fee covers the administrative costs associated with processing you, our volunteer company cannot offer refunds.

What happens if I miss one of my shifts?

You’ll need to present to the Volunteer Support Team ASAP. If you fail to do this, a penalty fee will apply.  As per the engagement agreement in the Volunteer Acknowledgement, this fee is equivalent to the full price of an Elements Festival 2024 ticket plus the administration fee.

What if I’ve bought a ticket to the event but want to volunteer instead?

Once your volunteer application has been accepted, simply email the Volunteer Support Team at volunteers@elementsfestival.com.au . They’ll fill you in on the next steps needed to process a refund or resale of your original ticket.

When will I find out if my volunteer application was successful?

Our aim is to fill all volunteer roles as quickly as possible, and applications stay open until all roles have been filled. Generally, you can expect to hear back in the final 2-month lead-up to the festival. So from 25th November 2023 on, we’ll be contacting successful applicants weekly until all positions are filled. You’ll receive a notification via email letting you know whether you were accepted.

How do I find out what role and shift times I’ve been assigned?

We’ll be sending out weekly acceptance emails from the 25th of November 2023 until all positions are filled. If you receive an acceptance email, it will include details of your role, including a position description and your shifts.

How do I accept or reject the volunteer position I’ve been offered?

If you are accepted as a volunteer, we will inform you of the role you have been allocated and your proposed shifts. To accept your position, all you need to do is complete the Volunteer Acknowledgement process online.

Keep an eye out for your acceptance email, and remember to save volunteers@elementsfestival.com.au as a contact to ensure the email doesn’t go to your junk/spam folder. To be fair to other applicants, we give you a specific window of time in which to complete the process. If you don’t confirm your position within this timeframe, we cannot guarantee your spot as it may have been offered to another applicant.

When allocating your shifts, we will take into consideration the information you provide in your application. However, we understand that your circumstances may change. So, if the shifts no longer suit you, that doesn’t mean you have to reject your offer. Instead, email the Volunteer Support Team at volunteers@elementsfestival.com.au with the updated information you would like us to consider when rostering your shifts.

When will I receive my volunteer ticket?

Volunteer tickets are sent within 2 weeks of the event.

Can I arrive at the festival site early?

Early arrival tickets are ONLY issued to volunteers who need to be on-site to complete their shifts before the festival opens. So if your first shift starts before gates open, you will be permitted to arrive on site early. The Volunteer Support Team will contact you to explain the precise details of your early arrival.

Please note: While the event is taking place from the 25th to the 28th of January 2024, event volunteers may be allocated shifts on days pre or post festival. Please pay close attention to the dates of your rostered shifts, and follow the guidelines provided to you by the Volunteer Support Team.

If I have early entry, can the friend I’m getting a lift with come in early too?

General Ticket Holders cannot enter the festival site before the gates open – no exceptions! The earliest entry opportunity is at 10am Thursday for 4-Day Ticket Holders. If you arrive for your early entry volunteer position with friends who do not have a ticket granting them early access, they will be turned away until the festival opens to patrons.

Is there a dedicated camping area for volunteers?

No, we don’t have a specific camping area for volunteers. Instead, you can set up camp in the general camping grounds, and you’re free to camp with friends or other volunteers.

Do I need to bring my own tent?

If that’s what you’re camping in, then yes. Volunteers have access to the general camping area of the site.

However, Elements is a BYO camping gear event, so you’ll need to bring your own tent, swag, car, or campervan – whatever suits you. You’ll also need to come with your own bedding and camp supplies. If you’d rather not bring any gear, you can purchase one of our Glamping packages (subject to availability).

Will my meals be provided at the event?

We don’t provide meals for volunteers who are working during the festival. However, you will have access to the Welfare Station, where you can make tea or coffee during your shifts. Just BYO cup/mug. You’ll also find plenty of affordable food vendors offering healthy and nutritious meals in our marketplace.

If you’ll be volunteering before and/or after the event (set-up and pack-down volunteers), we will provide your meals.

How do I sign on and off for my volunteer shifts?

Your first step is to arrive at Vollie HQ 15 minutes before your scheduled shift start time. This ensures you have time to find where you’re meant to be, meet our staff, and sign on for your shift. It is absolutely vital that you sign on and off for all your shifts. This will ensure you’re not penalised for failing to meet the guidelines in your Volunteer Acknowledgement.

This is all the paperwork we ask you to do, and we promise we make it super easy for you! We’re a friendly bunch, and we want to make the volunteering experience fun, enriching, and rewarding for you. All we ask is that you follow our simple guidelines and communicate with us if you run into any problems.
